->  4th of July Parade - Saturday, July 4 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
4th of July Parade and Independence Day Celebration. The 103rd annual parade will march down the streets of Huntington Beach, starting at PCH and 6th Street, turning on Main Street ending at Yorktown.  The largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi River features more than 300 entries including bands, floats, film and television celebrities, local dignitaries, equestrians and community groups.  "Staking Out" an area for viewing is allowed after 7 a.m. on July 3rd. This is an invitation only event that crowns undisputed USA National Champions. The 2009 PacSun USA Surf Team will be announced immediately following this event. Location: Adjacent to HB Pier. -> Civil War Re-enactment - September 4 through weekend
Setup begins on Friday with encampments forming. The event will be held throughout the weekend with four battles, 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Musical acts, military drummers, costumed non-professional actors, and fans of US history love this event. The public is invited to attend and learn about the flags, ceremonies, lifestyles and battles that took place during the U.S. Civil War, happening around the time that California became a state.  Location: Central Park behind Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave.

->  Overnight Family Campout  - Saturday, July 11 - 12:00 pm
Come enjoy a weekend full of outdoor fun.  Families are invited to come and enjoy activities, music, food, and crafts in Central Park.  Ten foot by ten foot spaces are available for reservation.  The cost is $10 per space and $10 per person, which includes dinner, snacks and breakfast.  This is a chance for families to have a low-cost camping experience and to play together in an outdoor atmosphere.  Check in will begin on July 11 at 12 noon and the event will end at 11:00 a.m. on July 12.  Pre-registration is required and space is limited.  For more information and reservations, call 714-536-5486.

Do something good to help someone with cancer while having a great night of fun doing so!  Gallaghers downtown HB will host a fundraiser for Rene Benson who was recently diagnosed with cancer. There will be a raffle for some great prizes donated from the local restaurants and retailers, and the famed blues guitarist Joe Wood will be doing a live performance. Great raffle items include stuff donated from Duke's, Billabong, Aloha Grill, Hurley, Sharkeez, Tuna Town, Sullen and so much more. The Bolsa Chica Conservancy will be hosting a 4th of July benefit brunch at Fred’s Mexican Café in downtown Huntington Beach on Friday, July 4, 2009. Sponsored by Fred’s Mexican Café, Laird Coatings Resource Corporation and Surf City Kiwanis, all proceeds from the benefit will go to support the Bolsa Chica Conservancy’s Wetland Science Education Programs and the Education and Restoration Center.
